I have long been interested in characters from European folklore that represent the dark side of the St. Nicholas legend. This piece features a cast of examples and also serves as a tribute to legendary comic artist Jack Kirby. It is based on one of his old Marvel comic covers (Marvel Premiere #29 featuring The Liberty Legion, 1976).
